The MIHOW Program came to Ohio County, WV in 1999 and continues to be funded to serve 40 families. Since then, we have added more than home visiting to our list of resources available to families. We offer a baby pantry, free children's books, developmental screenings, dental care supplies, emergency diapers, referrals to community agencies and health care, and social activities for the entire family. Families enrolled in our program are transitioned into Northern Panhandle Head Start at the age of 3. We also have a Licensed Social Worker, a Child Passenger Safety Technician, and a Certified Lactation Counselor on staff.
Our site received the National Accreditation by Vanderbilt University Center for Health Services in 2006, and was re-accredited in 2009. Accreditation recognizes that our site has achieved the highest standards in home visiting services and serves as a model for similar programs.
